How it works

• Start shares: microphone 35%, camera 30%, lighting 20%, extras (arm, stand, headphones, cables) 15%
• Podcasts and music move most of the camera share to the microphone and headphones
• Anything you already have drops out, and its share is spread over the rest
• A recent phone can stand in for a camera on small budgets; the camera share then goes to a phone mount

Three things this tool can't see

• Your room. Echo ruins sound. Soft furnishings, a rug and curtains often help more than a pricier mic.
• Your computer. Streaming in high quality needs a decent computer and upload speed.
• Prices. Gear prices and deals change. Check reviews and the seller's page before you buy.
